A check engine light is a message, not a verdict. We plug in, pull the fault codes, and — more importantly — interpret them against live sensor data, because codes point at symptoms and the real cause takes a mechanic who knows what to test next.
You get the answer in plain English: what the code says, what we tested, what's actually wrong, and what it costs to fix. If nothing's wrong except a stale code, we'll say so, clear it, and send you on your way.
What's involved
- Full system scan (engine, transmission, ABS, airbag and more)
- Live data analysis — not just code reading
- Plain-English findings with photographs where possible
- Clear itemised quote before any repair
Common questions
Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?
A steady light: get it checked soon. A flashing light means an active misfire that can destroy the catalytic converter — drive gently straight to a workshop, don't wait.
Can't you just clear the code?
We can, but if the fault is real it comes back in days. The scan is the cheap part; knowing which of the five possible causes behind a code is the one on YOUR car is what you're paying for.
Do you diagnose intermittent problems?
Yes — they're the hard ones. We combine scan data with testing on the car, and if the fault won't show itself, we'll tell you what conditions to capture rather than replacing parts on a guess.
